Quick followup on ChatGPT & metadata
OpenAI makes this an easy decision by adding interactive charts & diagrams
I don’t like to bombard you, but this is so on point to my post earlier in the week about using ChatGPT for revenue/metadata analysis that I feel obliged to share.
Announcement dropping from OpenAI today: https://openai.com/index/improvements-to-data-analysis-in-chatgpt/Today, we’re starting to roll out enhancements to data analysis:
Upload the latest file versions directly from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive
Interact with tables and charts in a new expandable view
Customize and download charts for presentations and documents
The tldr is that this makes it an absolute no-brainer: if, like most publishers, you are crunching business data that is related to semantically meaningful text, you absolutely should have a subscription to ChatGPT Pro ($20).
ChatGPT now gives small and medium-sized authors and publishers the equivalent of a dedicated data scientist.
Publishers will want to focus on:
Gathering and conditioning pertinent data.
Process knowledge for the domain—what are the questions and analyses that should always be asked for any publishing company.
Knowing your customers.
It will come as no surprise to publishers that third parties such as retailers, distributors, and tech platforms still have undesirable structural advantages in the world of data. I have some ideas on how to fix this, which I will share in a future “episode”.
Cordially,
Fred Z.
